Today, Wednesday, October 21st, 2015, indie pop duo ASTR (comprised of Zoe Silverman and Adam Pallin) releases their new song “Invincible,” via Complex. The new single is a track off their upcoming sophomore EP entitled Homecoming, arriving later this year on Lyon Cohen’s record label 300 Entertainment.

ASTR is also heading on tour for the month of November with Ryn Weaver and HOLYCHILD and recently put out singles “Activate Me” (mixed by Darkchild) and “It’s Over” feat. rapper Mick Jenkins.

About the song, Adam Pallin says, “We were out in LA writing last Spring and it was a period of uncertainty while we were going through big changes with our team. Somehow that came through in this song as we finished it in NYC. It is one of our favorites from the Homecoming EP and seems very fitting as the cold weather swarmed in this week.”

ASTR is a duo that lives, works and writes music in New York City. After meeting three years ago in a Manhattan Yoga class, Zoe Silverman and Adam Pallin discovered that they shared a musical and artist sensibility informed by Film Noir, Miami Vice and urban dreamscapes. ASTR was soon born.

Zoe is a New York Native and former major label refugee. After a hiatus from music to explore the world via spirituality she met Adam, a recovering vinyl addict with a penchant for 60’s/70’s cinema scores, disco and the fingers for anything with keys (especially vintage synths) as well as guitar and bass. ASTR released their Varsity EP in 2014, gaining buzz from fan favorites “Operate” and “Blue Hawaii” and their cover of Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home”. Since then ASTR has been steadily gaining fans and performing at festivals including Ultra, SXSW, CMJ, Life Is Beautiful Fest, Governor’s Ball, the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans and Hangout Fest. They have also toured with The Knocks. The duo have also already been getting attention from Fuse TV, Paper Magazine, Revolt TV, Oyster Magazine, Earmilk, and VH1 among others.

The Red Bull Sound Select artists’s single “Activate Me” shows a new side of ASTR, one that is more heavily influenced by dance music, but stays true to their love of sweet melodies and intricately produced percussion. With ASTR looking to sonically branch out they reached out to friend and mentor, the legendary Rodney Jerkins (aka Darkchild) to lend a hand in the mixing of “Activate Me”. Over the years Darkchild has helped produce and mentor countless music acts including: Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Brandy, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, TLC, Beyonce and more.

ASTR will also be touring this November with Ryn Weaver and HolyChild for the Misfit Toys Tour.

ASTR is also the first signing to Lyon Cohen’s new venture 300 Entertainment alongside Fetty Wap, Migos and Young Thug. With a host of new tunes and the impending release of their sophomore EP, entitled Homecoming, 2015 promises to be another wild ride for ASTR and their fans.

We placed the pair in our list of picks of the 50 Best Bets of CMJ Music Marathon for 2013 (see here), and make sure to check out our interview with them from 2014 here.
