Today Los Angeles Police Department has just dropped a brand new single called “Insecurity” via Fat Possum. It is from a 7″ that is for sale here. Take a listen below.
Under the moniker Los Angeles Police Department, Ryan Pollie makes the kind of homespun bedroom pop that excels in its quiet intimacy, while retaining its emotional weigh under sparse instrumentation and soft delivery. On his 11-track self-titled debut album released last year in 2014, Pollie wrote and recorded each song in a day, allowing for small imperfections and spurts of urgency found throughout the record. It’s a creative process Pollie has now become accustomed to. At times shaken and hazy and at others affront with exhaustion, Pollie is able to weave a tapestry of pop songs that is the perfect distillation of where the project is currently at and where it could be taken in the future.
Los Angeles Police Department is already getting attention from tastemakers like Stereogum and The Fader. He has been on tour as opening support for Avi Buffalo and has most recently played shows with Avid Dancer.
“Do not miss this subtle, sexy single from Ryan Pollie.” – Yvynyl
“A contrast of sentiments; happy and sad, dignified and reckless, delivered by a voice that only ever felt like it was being spoken to you, for you, by you, whatever. Fleeting and memorable, Ryan Pollie writes songs that feel like memories; sometimes distant, sometimes lost in a haze, but always there, somewhere.” – Tom Johnson, GoldFlakePaint
“Whether it’s by virtue of finding himself as an artist or a conscientious shifting of style, Los Angeles Police Department’s tone has gotten a little softer lately. Some would indict an artist for that, but I find it rather intriguing”. – Jason Harrison, Sirens of Decay
