Over the summer M.I.A. debuted “Broader Than a Border,” the “first in a series of truly global and characteristically DIY M.I.A. releases over the coming months.” Today she continues that theme with the release of this new single, “Borders,” which finds M.I.A. questioning the world’s woes over a beat that can be best described as Indian trap. This, and all of her forthcoming releases, will be included on M.I.A.’s new album and film project, Matahdatah.

Earlier this year in 2015, she also leaked new track “Platforms” in May (listen here). The “Paper Planes” rapper surprised everyone in March by dropping a new track called “Can See Can Do”, which you can check out here. “Can See Can Do” was the first new music to be heard from M.I.A. since her 2013 album, Matangi. Her last single release from said album was 2014’s “Double Bubble Trouble”. Her last featured spot was on Madonna’s 2012 single “Give Me All Your Luvin’’ alongside Nicki Minaj.

The “Bad Girls” musician also hinted that more new music is on the way later this year as she tweeted: “To my hardcore fans hang in there summer is coming”.
